Google Data Opt Out Protection
Your personal data- Google Privacy Protection- Health Direct generates a meagre amount of income from displaying Google’s AdSence ads to cover our editorial time.
Google changed they way that they function. Consequently we’re letting you know about the upcoming launch of their new interest based advertising process.
The new approach is required because of Google’s purchase of the DoubleClick organisation and the use of the DoubleClick DART cookie.
- Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to users based on their visit to this sites and other sites on the Internet.
- Save your opt-out preference permanently- With this browser plugin you can permanently opt out of the DoubleClick cookie, which is an advertising cookie that Google uses.
The plugin lets you keep your opt-out status for this browser even when you clear all cookies.
- You can also opt out of all DART cookies and clean up your system using the link above.
Health Direct notes that whilst Google’s data protection issue might be regarded as intrusive, it is potentially no worse than the labour government’s plans were to track all of your online website visits and emails. And there is no way that you can opt out of their big brother surveillance.
Interest-based advertising will allow advertisers to display ads based on a user’s previous interactions with them, such as visits to advertiser website and also to reach users based on their interests (e.g. “sports enthusiast”). To develop interest categories, Google will recognise the types of web pages that users visit throughout the Google content network. As an example, if you visit a number of sports pages, they will add them to the “sports enthusiast” interest category. Google’s new data issues took effect on 8 April 2009.
